Facts & Figures

  • A pumice processing mill operated on the southerly portion of the property for over 40 years. SF Brown entered into a contract to purchase the ‘Pumice Plant’ property in 2001 and eventually completed the sale in March of 2005.
  • The old pumice mill ceased operations in early 2007, when it relocated to San Juan pueblo north of Espanola. Demolition and clean-up of the Zia Road facility began on the summer of 2007 and a certificate approving the clean up was issued by the State’s mining and minerals division later that year.
  • Train service between Albuquerque and Santa Fe began on December 15, 2008 and the Rail Runner Express recorded its 4,000,000th rider on January 19, 2011.
  • The decision and authority to open the Zia Road Station for service has always been vested with the City of Santa Fe and city staff are currently analyzing what types of public facilities and improvements are necessary to open the station for service.
